Day 2, Night 2

Well, the folks at Alt-N rock. Arvel does literally. Everyone else has a great time being social when needed, but also they can get the work done when they need to as well. I’m really enjoying myself and the Texas weather has been on its best behavior. If anything I’ve missed seeing Dave O. who has been home with his sick family.

Tonight we saw Mouk’s apartment in downtown Dallas as well as the view from the top of his building which was fabulous. I must say that I wish I brought my camera because there are so many pictures that could have been taken.

I talked to Abby this evening for a little bit and the little two year old voice melts my heart and makes me want to fly home immediately so I can be with my baby. I miss Jessica as well and can’t wait to be whole again with my family. It’s amazing how absence makes the heart grow ravenous for your spouse and their fellowship. I’m glad I’m married to Jessica.

A Night On the Town

[note: this post jumps and skips arond like Memento… this is intended]

Last night we travelled to a vast array of places, as long as you define vast array as three. I had a great time hanging out with the Alt-N after-hours crew and got to eat at Razzoo’s (sorry Sha’i). I also saw Arron’s new house which has a nifty second story game room. This game room may soon be occupied by a pool table and a large screen television. What is so amazing about this house is that it has a Neptune washing machine that is the latest in design which agitates your clothes in such a way that it shouldn’t agitate the clothes’ owner when they come out of the system.

Before we went to Razzoo’s and Arron’s we went to some other cajun-ish bar and hung out with a few (3) of the GIS2 crowd. All was good. Except that when I finally got ‘home’ to our fancy hotel room I had to stay up and watch cable TV as to make sure that my host’s money was well used 🙂 As I suspected not much was on so I turned off the TV and did the unthinkable: I went to sleep.

Dinners

Abby and I playing ‘dinners.’ As some of you may already know Abby doesn’t just play dinner or make just one dinner, she does it in plural. I took a photo, or rather several photos and blended them together to show you a perspective on the percentage of movement I do compared to her rapid moving 🙂

Advice from Dr. Phil?

One can only ask if this man faked a robbery because of Dr. Phil. Man staged robbery to impress wife. I know that when I see Dr. Phil I want to stage at least some sort of stupid or illegal activity: A book burning, a TV demolition (don’t burn your TV, it’s bad for the environment), or using the dull can opener in the kitchen to open French cut green beans [if the French are really responsible for this style of green beans they should be… never mind].

More Photos

I’ve added more photos on Flickr. Of course one of the real critical issues is bandwidth and storage space. Once things get in order I’ll probably host many of the pictures on this site, but for now I’m putting them up on Flickr to offset my storage limitations with my current host. Subject matter: A duck, some leaves, water, moss and some rocks.

Greek Class

I’ve really been enjoying our Greek class on Saturday nights. Craig Kaes has done such an outstanding job preparing for and teaching the class. Granted we’re currently doing a survey of Greek to get most of the other students familiar with the language the pace and the content are excellent. Craig has been going through the English parts of grammar and then helping us relearn or understand diagramming those sentences so that we can grasp how those diagrams will work in Greek.

Unlike English the Koine Greek (the New Testament Greek) language is very logical but still takes some adjusting to since it’s not a modern spoken language that adds a layer of difficulty for us to wrap our minds around. However, it is so exciting to read a Greek New Testament (or try to) and pick up words and phrases. When I translated my first passage in Seminary and it roughly said the same thing that my New American Standard Bible said I was so excited. Not because I had re-invented the wheel but because it added another layer of certainty to the Word of God. It is Truth and it is fantastic for daily application.

Abby Picture

Here is Abby in the silk dress that her Aunt Becca got for her in China. The camera flash made it look a little more silvery than the lovely purple that it is (I couldn’t get Abby to hold still long enough to turn off the flash).

Too Much Fun

Can you have too much fun? Probably. I, however, am at the very least enjoying my new camera… as evidence, I give you a tree near our apartment:
Face in the tree
You will notice that there is a face-like shape in the knots and grooves in the tree. Maybe it’s Gollum.
A fall leaf
A pretty bright red leaf.
