Happy Birthday Erin Nuzzi!

Erin Nuzzi, one of our fabulous friends from ‘way back’ turns [number withheld out of respect for the not as young as they used to be] today! We love you Erin and can’t wait to see you again!

The ‘Pertermans’

Hiking

We went for a hike this afternoon and had a good time. That is until we reached the turn around point and a gal jogged past us and said, “Watch out for rattle snakes, they’re out pretty heavily this season.” Thanks. I feel really good about taking my family back down the trail with that sort of warning. Upon arriving safely back at the car I saw a sign on the back side of the information sign warning about bears and mountain lions in the area. I think they could at least warn you about snakes, bears, mountain lions and odd runners!

Zigity

At ‘Ye Olde Coffee Shoppe’ (AKA Starbuck’s) I bought Zigity by the same people that brought you anthoer silly game: Cranium. It is fun and the cards are clear plastic except where the critical information is. This lends itself to a fun game as well as the fact that you’ve got 4 types of tasks you can complete. Shuffling the plastic cards is even fun. We played a hand and then Jessica looked at the directions a second time and discovered that we were playing wrong.

I coulda been a contender!

Lions and Tigers and Bears – Okapi

In case you don’t know it an okapi is an endangered African relative of the Giraffe (I think the relationship is mutual – the Okapi must be that goofy uncle that no-one talks to). It looks more like a cross between a zebra and deer (picture of okapi hosted by Denver Zoo).

Abby had a really good time, with the exception of the Lions which just scared her too much:

The Lion Looked right at Abby through the glass at zero feet. She was tired and almost asleep in her stroller when we saw some monkeys, which woke her up and thrilled her like none of the other animals. We bought a zoo memebership thinking that she’d like to see the animals regularly. I’m thinking that she’ll really just want to see the monkeys but that she’ll endure everything else for us.

We went swimming tonight and I got to play catch for 35-40 minutes with a handicapped kid in the pool. He got real upset at me though at the beginning when I mentioned the crocodile we saw at the zoo. He said they were scary and should not be mentioned any more.

Crocodiles.
Crocodiles.
Crocodiles.
Crocodiles.
Crocodiles 😉

They are scary, but not if I’m just reading the word.

Alias Makes Kristin Sick

Kristin, my sister-in-law had never heard of Alias before, so she started watching it with Jessica and Kelsey, her sister (my other sister-in-law from that part of the family). However, the more alias she watched the sicker she got. Therefore, without any other refutation I blame Alias for Kristin’s downfall in health.

Chuck E. Cheese is Scary

We went to Chuck E. Cheese’s today to play games with the girls. It seemed like a kid friendly place, and over all it was a good experience. However, at the end of the time Abby saw a person dressed as said rodent. She clung to Kelsey tightly and turned away from the rat.

In the car on the way home she said, “He’s scary.” I agree 🙂

George Bush Wants to Kill Me

On the ‘W’ ketchup FAQ page you’ll see the ingredients of the Ketchup, which includes High Fructose Corn Syrup followed by just plain Corn Syrup. If I eat that my hand will fall off in an allergic reaction [I’m highly allergic to corn].

At least Kerry’s wife’s company (Heinz) sells an organic ketchup. Of course it’s outrageously expensive, too. I’ve got to help fund their Humvee. I wish Kerry had an environmental policy that didn’t include owning one of those, a suburban and a personal jet.

Oh, Poop

Abby went potty this morning in her diapers (she sleeps in diapers still) and was really fussy when we changed them. She belly-wallered and flailed (making the poop seem ever more frightening) a lot and we explained to her that if she tells mommy and daddy when she needs to go potty on the big girl potty she won’t have to go through that again.

I’m hoping this will be the straw that helps break the camel of its smoking habit.
