Feasting on Asphalt 2

Last year Jessica and I really enjoyed Feasting on Asphalt – a tour across the width of the United States on back roads with Alton Brown & his production crew. Love it. Watched each episode at least once and most of them twice. We’re that sick. But its coming up again and they’ll be premiering season two this Saturday night on the Food Network. Set your DVRs, rescheduled your otherwise important events and check it out.

You can learn more on Alton Brown’s site.

  1. We loved it as well. Alton is such a wealth of information and a pleasure to watch. We’re just hoping he manages to keep the cycle upright this season. 🙂

  2. I respectfully disagree. I’m sad to see that Mr’ Brown’s apparent notoriety has seemingly gone to his head. In the first series, he appeared honest and open, letting the guests run the segment, rightly taking the role of guest in their establishments. He also appeared almost in awe of his surroundings, bringing the viewer into the experience as if they were witnessing these people and things right along with him. In the new series (the first episode at least) he appears cocky and too self assured. He preaches to the guests and at times seems to actually be quizzing them on their craft. I can’t say I’m surprised. Humility is a fleeting virtue, especially among the newly famous. Hopefully he or his producers will notice the change and do their best to take him down a notch.

  3. I think that being in New Orleans was a different experience and we’ll have to wait and see how the second episode works out. I agree that it feels less personable, but the types of restaurants and joints he’s been to have not been like the previous series’ joints.

I’m optimistic about the rest of the series, but we’ll have to wait until Saturday to see.
