Things, Goings On, and Stuff I write

Potty Training Day 7

Well, we’re somewhat discouraged by this whole process. Abigail is being tough in her determination to not submit to our wishes for her to tell us when she needs to go potty. We’re sticking it out, but mostly because she’s very obviously (via attitude, which is incredibly cocky for 21 months) ready for this and choosing not to obey!

This causes us to dig in and want to get this over with all the sooner. We’ll see, if by weeks end she doesn’t have this mostly down we’ll probably give her another month and then try the regiment again. We think she gets it though as she usually goes to be by herself when she has to go potty and then comes out with the surprise package.

A Trip to the Bookstore

This noon we went to the Barnes & Noble and looked at their discount books (which can sometimes be rewarding). I saw two ‘treasures’ there that I must cher about.

  • 18 more vampirical erotic stories
  • A Civil War Popup book

If your mind is as overactive as mine you’ve already had a good time with the given descriptions.

I looked at the first book and I thought, “More?” Did America respond popular to the first eighteen vampirical erotic books? Were American’s looking for that sort of material? I saw Van Helsing, I enjoyed a little vampirical novelty, but adult vampire books? No thanks. I can only imagine what they could do with that sort of ‘food for thought.’

And regarding the civil war popup book. Close your eyes and imagine a grandchild on their grandpa’s lap saying, “Grandpa turn the page, I want to see the guy get his head blown off with the cannonball.” What do we need a popup book of death for? Really. “Mom, can you please read the civil war popup book to me again? I really love to see the flames leap up as Georgia burns.” I vote we not sell silly books like that.

On the Musical Front

Three things:

  1. Free – the lead singer of a band called Liquid Currency, showed up yesterday to help fix my DSL connection, which was broken for a while. It was neat to meat a Christian rocker on the job 🙂 We may get together in the future and jam. The MP3’s on the site are older he said.
  2. Sixpence None the Richer has been in my CD player/MP3 rotation. They’ve unfortunately broken up (or maybe it’s good for them, but not us). Really emotionally passionate music.
  3. Church – I’ll be playing a song for the meditation time in the service the 6th, maybe it’ll get recorded and I’ll throw it up on the site.

Number 1 and Number 2

Abby went both types of potty this morning… in the toilette which was a real accomplishment! She’s making progress 🙂

You do expect this sort of bathroom humor here, don’t you? 😉

Dinner With Abby

I had dinner with Abby this morning. No, not real dinner, but pretend dinner. She served me apple, hamburger, beans and tomatoes with Jamba Juice to drink. It was a delectable meal with all the flavor that imagined food can bring. She’s getting so big it’s just amazing.

Last night I was making origami things and she loved the little bird I made. I couldn’t help but think of Tony who’d be making a ‘Kootie-catcher’ for sure.

John and Becca

John and Becca have a blog now. They are my brother and sister-in-laws. They live in WAshington STate. They are college students and they study the snot out of Chinese. Which is good because if they didn’t study Chinese then they would probably be studying something else and then I’d say, “They study the snot out of something else.” Which doesn’t sound good.

Potty Training Day 2, Morning 1

I don’t know why I put morning one on the first title, but to be consistent, I’m following my incorrect pattern. There is only one morning, unless I’ve missed something.

I was up until midnight last night working on some programming for one of my clients, and then Abby woke up around 1:30 crying. Jessica got up with her and then put her back down. A while later she just came in with her stuffed frog and blanket and tried to stay awake with us (because we wanted to be awake then). She came in, crawled up on the bed and Jessica just let her do whatever while trying to sleep (I don’t blame her, I wanted to sleep, too). Abigail tossed, turned, wiggled and then eventually pushed me over the edge so I got her up, carried her into her own bed where she went back to sleep. Crazy kids… gotta love ’em!

We’ll see how the potty training goes today. Jessica and I keep reminding Abby that she’s got to tell us when she has to go potty. We ask and ask and ask, but she says no. We’ll see how today turns out.

Potty Training Day 1

OK, so it’s just 6:15 now and we’re through. Abby has gone through more panties than we can count, we’ve done a load of just panties. She’s peeing every 30 seconds it seems, except that she’s not going potty when we put her on the toillette. I’ve written a song to sing to her when she’s on the potty, but it’s not helped either. The song goes something like this:

Abby's on the potty
Abby's going pee
when she's done going potty
we'll throw a big party

Abby's going potty
Abby's going poo
She's nearly done going potty
we'll party when she's through

There has been no partying today.

Potty Training Day 1, Morning 1

Jessica got up this morning and immediately opened up the fresh package of 2T potty training panties for Abigail. Abby is now on the potty and (possibly pre-maturealy) excited about wearing panties 🙂 We’ll see what happens after the first ‘accident.’ Ha ha! This is almost like fun. This will be a week (plus or minus) of lots of cleanup, pray for us there.

WordPress 1.2

Well, I did the upgrade to WordPress, and other than having to fix the blunders that I had made while previously tinkering with the database (Note to self, don’t tinker with that which you don’t fully understand). Now I’m going to just have to re-work the stylesheet to use a look similar to the www.randypeterman.com main site.

There are quite a few new changes to the administration part of the software that are really nice. I think that the developers have understated the improvements by simply calling it 1.2. Unless they’re going for a Sun type maneouver where they’ll create a lot of enhancements call it a point release and then everyone will expect that a point release just means that they’ve created a new version. Some day when Java 2.0 comes out Java will be amazing (theoretically) and some day when WordPress 2.0 comes out, well, who knows, I might be able to think my blog entries and they’ll automagically show up.

Great software!
