Parts of the Body

Abby discovered more about being a little girl this week. She touched herself in the private girl part and looked inquisitively at me. Why me Lord? Why didn’t she ask her mommy? So I explained that it was a v*gina which Abby was pleased to know as she instantly parroted back, “‘agina?” I affirmed this close enough pronounciation. The worst part is that now she’s touching it when on the potty and reminding us of its name.

Then, yesterday after I had showered from working out, she burst in on me in the buff and immediately spotted my ‘manacles.’ So we covered that territory, too. Being a dad of an inquisitive (almost) two year old is sure fun. I can’t wait until she asks where babies come from 🙂

Original Avengers

Jessica and I have been checking out DVD’s of the Original Avengers and watching them. Black and white film with mediocre camera and audio work, but fun none the less. And you just can’t beat the fabulous action when people are making special effects sounds with their mouths 🙂 You should check them out at www.originalavengers.com.

Mozilla’s Event Model

If you’re working on implementing event handling in Mozilla you might run into the problem that I do: You are used to Internet Explorer’s event model. However, the best method I’ve found for handling things is to just attach events to the objects via the DOM. Otherwise you might be like me and go bald trying it the hard way.

Five Hundred

This is the five-hundredth post on this blog. Wow, I’m far too prolific… I’d like to thank all of the people that helped me get where I am today 😉 I’d like to thank Shari Peterman for reading this site since its inception every day, checking it up to five times a day just to see if I’d written anything funny or zany or new about Jessica or Abby. Thanks goes to Google for probably being responsible for 20% or more of the total hits to this site.

Thanks for reading,

Randy Peterman

Abby Knows Sunglasses

I reallize that the title is probably not a strong reference to Bo Jackson for most people, but since I spent a lot of money (along with my brother who probably spent even more than I did) to collect a huge amount of Bo Jackson collectors cards only to have him fade into nothing, the reference means something to me. Abby insisted she bring her sunglasses with her to church this morning and on the way to church she put them on. Upside down. With the arms of the glasses pointing up underneath her ears. It was priceless and I had no way to photograph it. However, she was surely cute and I had to share.

Scaling Through the Walls

So my neighbor upstairs has already made it into my blog a couple times… loud, Jerry Springer-ish fights have happened multiple times (next time I’m calling the police – this is getting out of hand). This morning though, she was preparing for church, only I didn’t know it. Here’s how it went down:

Abby was watching Arthur in the front room while Jessica and I were getting ready and I thought, “Wow, that’s a funny sound to be in Arthur.” It was, because it wasn’t in Arthur, it was in the bathroom upstairs. My neighbor was doing scales to prepare for singing at church, only it wasn’t the “Mi-May-Ma-Mo-Moo” scales, it was “woooo-oooooo-oooo-oo” [the sliding scale that starts low and slides up high] type of scales. Over and over and over and… well I’m glad we’re leaving for church in a moment.
