New Peaberry’s Open

As most of the readers of this blog are probably not in or near the Denver Tech Center (DTC) this will not be valuable to you. However, there’s a new Peaberry Coffee that just opened today off of DTC Blvd. The service was great and they didn’t beat us up for bringing a little construction mud into the place. They even offered to give us some samples of various snacky items they sold. Best of all is their slogan:

Buy Colorado.
It really ticks off Seattle.

If you’re not near a Peaberry I still suggest Starbucks because my sister works for them and I’d hate for her to be unemployed.

Little Fingers

My niece Hawley has tiny hands (as do 110% of infants) and here is a picture of her fingers curled around her grandpa Peterman’s thumb. I was able to take this shot with my Nikon 5700 at a macro distance. In short I could blow this up so that it fit on an 8X10 really, really easily. This means that there could be a hand that is 20 times larger than her actual hand with very little effort. She’s so cute, quiet and she sleepy most of the time that when she cries it makes you sad for her. We love her very much and I can’t wait for her to call us on the phone some day and say, “Crazy Uncle Randy, will you please stop blogging about me?”

Napoleon Dynamite Part II

OK, so I watched this movie again tonight with my family and it’s better the second time. Most movies lose something in repetition, this one got better. I laughed a lot and then saw the wedding scene after the credits. I have to say that the cow vs. shotgun bit is still one of my favorite parts, but mostly because it left so much to my imagination.

If you can rent this to watch it twice, preferably with others who have seen it and can laugh ahead with you.

Abby Quote of the Moment

This morning, like many mornings, Abby woke up early and came into our room. Jessica mumbled to me, “It’s too early, please put her back into her bed.” Abby told me she had to go pee-pee so we headed to the potty and she showed me the play scissors that she got for Christmas. I took them away from her and had her go to the bathroom. As I was putting her into the bed she said to me, “Daddy, can I have scissors in bed?” I told her, “No, we never have scissors in bed.” She then asked, “Never? Never, ever, ever, ever have scissors in the bed?”

Yeah – we pretty much don’t let her have any fun.

Garden of the Gods Again

Today we went to Garden of the Gods again, this time with the whole family (11 people I think). Here is a picture of Brennan and Abby proving they’re super cute cousins.

And my sister and her Groom, Kurt, who managed to survive a round trip with me driving.
Kurt and Becky

And my brother and his family (sans Hawley who was sleeping in the stroller all bundled up)
Ed, Shari and Brennan

And my parents, Vern and Nancy.

And some random stranger who has no idea he’s on the internet here
Some Rock Climber I Do Not Know

I’m a little daft apparently and didn’t get Becky, or one of the others (Becky took High School Photo like I did), to take a picture of Jessica, Abby and I. However, Abby got to be in another picture. Therefore we’ll have to have someone take another one of us. As a place holder I give you: My Big Fat Digital Camera Mistake
No Randy and Jessica

Baby Hawley

Here is a picture of my nephew, Brennan, kissing his sister Hawley, my first niece (if I have other nieces, just because you’re not first doesn’t mean I don’t love you, it means I have had less time to love you and that is all).
Brennan Kisses Hawley

I need to get some good pictures of Abby, Brennan and Hawley together so that I can become a world famous photographer. Getting a good picture of three young children is nearly a miracle. I’m pretty certain that one good picture will make me notorious at the vary least 😉

Happy Valentines Day!

iPod shuffle
A few days early. Jessica was sick yesterday so I gave her a special valentines day present, which by the above image was obviously an iPod Shuffle. She loves it. I love that she loves it. She said as she opened it, “This is a present from you to me to you, isn’t it?” I strongly told her, “No, this is for you because you’ve been wanting something like this for a while.” She’s learned how iTunes and the shuffle work together and used it this morning while cleaning the apartment. She was singing away (quietly) while listening to Five Iron Frenzy and whatever else she had on there.

It’s cool enough that she even seemed to indicate she was looking forward to later in the year when we’ll hopefully replace the desktop in the kitchen with an Mac Mini. I love my wife very much – apples or not.

It doesn’t quite harken back to the Garden of Eden, but the apple, my beautiful wife and a snake named Windows XP bring things around 🙂

Shire Slammed on Drug Move

I really enjoyed the Lord of the Rings books. I also enjoyed the movies. So when I saw Shire Slammed on Drug Move I was pretty upset since I had no idea the hobbits were partaking in such activities. According to the books and movies drugs were purely the realm of orcs, Gollum and Ray Charles.

It turns out that if you go actually read the article that they’re just referencing a pharmaceutical company. What’s up with that? I call that poor reporting.
