In case you haven’t noticed the line between TV and Computer Monitor has blurred to where they sell ‘displays’ for computer and television, or televisions that can work with computers, or displays that monitor your television’s computer. Well, Apple, not wanting to miss the boat has released the ‘Uber Monitor.’ This thirty inch monitor will make it so that even Hellen Keller can watch DVD’s and quicktime movies on an Apple.

Foot in the Door
Yesterday I posted about ‘Powdered by WordPress’ and then Matt linked to my post. This was a huge boost in hits. What also happened that was interesting was that my stats showed a big jump in Safari and Firefox browsers… Firefox surpassed Internet Explorer 6.0 for the first time in this site’s history*. I’m going to get some screen shots up of the stats package for WordPress, and then when I do, I’d like to request comments, I suppose this’ll be my first RFC.
This feels like a foot in the door of the web development community. The truth of the matter is that I need to pay my dues and if people start watching this blog it will be because it has content they care about.
*That is to say on a day where more than 10 people checked it – 2 of which may have been me and my bride.
Color Schemer Studio
If you’re like me you’re a 20 something, white, anglo-saxon, protestant man with dirty blond hair married to an attractive gal with a 22 month old daughter and living in Denver. OK, so you may not be that much like me, but if you’re also like me you are not a color genius. I wear blue jeans and a white shirt most days. If I’m not wearing a white shirt I’m wearing a blue shirt.
However, this application ‘Color Schemer Studio‘ rocks my web design world. I can generate nice color schemes, and generate CSS files that I can edit with TopStyle. This is a simple looking interface, but it has a really nice, neat, clean, intuitive interface (can’t use enough descriptives with this color coordination application) so using it is easy.
I bought a copy after using the 15 day trial for 10 minutes. I didn’t need to look longer than that to know that I’ll use the cost of this up, plus some in no time while working on WorldClient and any other projects that come my way.
Jessica is Sick
We missed church this morning because Jessica is not feeling well. This is a bummer because I don’t want my wife to feel sick, and also, it is a bummer because I don’t like to miss church. The prior outweighs the latter in priority, but after having such a hard time last week it would have been nice to go to church (I mean come on, I sat near my ex-girlfriend’s parents at church and then prayed with them during prayer time [I don’t think they recognized me]. It would have been funny if I thanked the Lord for the old speakers they gave me while dating their daughter, but it also would have been pretty inappropriate).
Speaking of the ex-girlfriends parents, they gave me their old stereo when they got a new one. The new one they cranked up really loud to show me how powerful the speakers were. I heard the ‘Forrest Dump’ sound track at about 200 decibels. Cindy’s mom was trying to impress me, but in the end Elvis at full volume is still no better than Elvis at normal volume. I mean, come on, the guy only had one thing going for him: he’s on USPS stamps. Now, to impress me with their new speakers she could have played something with some real bass: Count Basie.
But, in the end, Jessica is feeling poorly and so we’ll see how that effects the rest of the day.
Powdered by WordPress
One of the strengths of Google is that it can spell check your search terms so that you actually search for what you’re looking for. However, some words, like the title of this post conveys, don’t get corrected because ‘Powdered’ is a real English word. However, I think this person was looking for ‘Powered by WordPress.’ 🙂
I’m not sure what WordPress would do to ‘powder’ your site, but if there was anything that could be done, Matt et al would figure it out and throw it into the program. Maybe I should write the ‘Powder’ plugin since the 1.2 API allows for plugins. Any suggestions as to what the Powder plugin should do are appreciated.
On a similar note I’ve worked up an pretty nice statistics package that I’m thinking of opening up to the WordPress community that can create bar charts and basic reports for your WordPress use. Please let me know if you might be interested in such a thing. A Screenshot can be seen here
Belleview Park
There’s a park here in Greenwood Village called ‘Belleview Park’ (So glad they didn’t call it Belleview butcher shoppe since it’s a park, huh?). Amazingly it is on a road called Belleview. However, this park, being a good model of ‘park wisdom’ has a petting zoo ($1.00 for children over 2 through adults aged 197 and a half, over that and you get in free), they also have a little small scale train that runs through the park. Jessica and I spent $4.00 today for the three of us to have fun, can you beat that? I don’t think so.
The park also has the typical park things like grass, a small bit of water running through it (that is a river/stream thingy) lots of playing equipment as well as grills for barbecuing. On top of this already nice list for a park they have covered areas where you can gather. It’s nice that the covers are on top 🙂

Good-Bye Pinecorn
Abby, having amused us with ‘Green Sheep’ has fortunately/unfortunately outgrown ‘pinecorn’ in her vocabulary. What is a pinecorn? It is a yellow fleshed fruit that is prickly on the outside that doesn’t grow on trees: a pineapple. For several months they’ve been pinecorn but finally she’s picked up that they’re pineapple and now we say good-bye to an old new word.
More Abby Lyrics
We have a collection of Veggie Tales CD’s that Abby loves, one of which is the Larry Boy soundtrack. One set of lines in the theme song go:
Lean and Mean
Green Machine
Larry Boy!
Abby’s version includes the line:
Green Sheep
I love being her dad!
Missing Euless
I’m missing Euless. OK, not really Euless by itself, but the Main Street Barbecue in Euless. The barbecue there is so excellent that when I have other barbecue (with the exception of some ribs we made here that were outstanding) I’m sad and miss their food. We ate at Red’s 360 Grill in Carson City and it just wasn’t even close. The food was good, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t on the same level as ‘Main Street’. I’m salivating right now thinking about it.
Red and Shoulders
This morning while playing with Abigail she started singing:
Red and shoulders knees and toes
knees and toes
knees and toes
Red and shoulders knees and toes
[giggles]
Nose.
