Going, Going, Gone!

Tomorrow (Friday) we’re leaving to go to Denver, Colorado.
We’re going to my parents’ where we’ll see them and Becky.
It’ll be for my parent’s 30th anniversary, which is cool, but I know that its
going to be fast and we’ll be sad its all over when its all over.
I have cool parents, the kind that you see on television that are all sappy
and still romantic.
Yeah, that’s them.
The parents that are still in love and grow more and more in love over time.
The kind of parents that are rarer than evidence for evolution (mostly
because there really isn’t any – though my parents do exist).

Ed

Congradulations go out to Ed, my brother, who managed to quit being a
mechanic to be a Nevada State Employee.
This is something he’s talked about, and as long as he doesn’t get involved
with politics, I’m glad for him 🙂
May the Lord bless him with safety and may he be a light in a very dark
place!
Also, may he get plenty of time with his family and get to have his schedule
changed so he can go to church with them.

Counting

I’ve had over 652 hits this month, and its not over.
While this is not as many hits as some months, I’m glad.
I’ve gotten hits from search engines that used to not point to me, and I
apparently rank pretty high in some of their results for various search
terms.
Whatever the number of people that come to this site I’m hoping that I’ll be
able to shine for Christ and to make this a funny, weird, entertaining and
cool place to read about most things Peterman.

Designing With Web Standards

This is the title of a book.
Not just any book, but a book that has changed my life.
Not as extremely as the Word of God, but its a good book by worldly standards.
In fact, I recommend it to every web developer I meet.
At work we’re working on a new version of our website and the company that is
doing the graphics and layout design,
Holmes-Millet,
got that book recommendation today.
I hope that they read it and learn a lot, its a fabulous book on how to
design web pages.

I suppose that most of the folks who read this care very little about web
standards on the surface, but I would point out that web standards are
what make your browsers work.
But without getting all philosophical, let me just say that I’m glad that
you’re reading this, and if some day (if not already) you find yourself
working on a web page, check out the book, its the way to go.

Oh, and one more thing: I got some more pictures of Abby that I will try to
put up ASAP, some even tonight.
Just check out the Media pages.

LOTR: The Four Hours

We got the ‘Two Towers’ DVD
last night.
We in no way could attempt to watch all of the content on the video.
It’s something like 10 hours of video(that’s a guess).
The movie itself is almost 4 hours long.
Four hours.
That is like half a days work watching a movie.

To put it in perspective, I could probably fix up to 5 bugs in that time at
work.
I might be able to go to dinner and a regular length movie in that time
period.
I could wash one of our cars and clean it all out and start on the other and
maybe finish it in four hours!
And to top it all off, Jessica suggested we watch the movie last night.
So we started it but only watched about 30 minutes.

Speaking of which, one of the worst special effects parts is when they
approach the burning pile of orcs and there is an orc head on a spear.
The orc’s head has its tongue out as if its making a face.
True, heads usually make faces, and heads aren’t much without a face, but
still it seemed rather out of place.
It was as if Bozo the clown had stepped in while Peter Jackson wasn’t looking
and tweaked it a little.
It makes the paranormal tracking of Aragorn seem a little silly with that
face out in the open as it is (I listen to rocks for clues of things going
on miles away, but don’t pick up on horses going after the same group).

Anyway, I won’t pick it to pieces as it is a fun movie and heck, I could be
one of millions of people who bought the movie making Wingnut and Jackson
just a little richer.
You do realize that they’ve made enough money from the first movie
to cover mostly all of the expenses so whatever profit there is from #2
and #3 is profit.
They should make The Chronicles of Narnia next.

Colorado Calling

We’re going to my parent’s this weekend to see them and my sister My
(AKA Becky).
This is a good thing overall and I’m greatful for the oportunity to see them.
What is so spectacular is this: it is their thirtieth anniversary next week.
¿Can you believe that?
It’s cooler than a Denver Christmas.
Speaking of cooler in Denver its suppose to be a high of 27°.
That’s approximately two-thirds less than what we’re used to here in Texas
right now.

Trader

I’ve also been learning somewhat about a new trading strategy using the
CCI.
I’m not completely familiar with how it works but using that with some
filters my uncle and dad have both had zero (0, none, zilch, nada) losses
with their option trading.
Oh, and they’ve not just traded once each.
I actually turned a 15% profit as well.
As I learn more about it I might write some articles about it here.

Sick Sweety

Jessica was not feeling well tonight but was a good sport.
I did my best to help her be able to rest, but Abigail is sure a busy body.
I love both my ladies and am glad that I’m maried to one and a Daddy to the
other.

Weeee-k End

This weekend we had the Nuzzi’s over again.
As you would expect we had a good time.
We really enjoyed the kids together (Abby and Josh and Davis are so cute
together).
I got pictures of it all and hope to have them back from being developed by
Thursday.
Jessica and I are tired, as I imagine Tony and Erin are, because we stayed up
so late after the kids went to bed.

We did church at home because the church we’ve been going to for the last
couple of months (rather off and on, really) is just so dull and drab.
We studied Matthew 22:15-22 and it was good.
That passage really hit me because it reveals God’s image being reflected in
His creation, man.
I was glad to have lead because I really like to talk about spiritual things
with Tony and Erin.
There was a time when our conversations with them were not so relaxed because
I was a fiery non-charismatic.
I praise the Lord He’s tempered me there and that I have a greater grasp on
His word.

Tony is a great friend, he and I went out on Friday night and talked about
all sorts of things at Denny’s (our ‘official’ hang-out when visiting).
I’d tell you what we talked about but that would violate a trust that I
treasure too highly.
If Tony and I ever start a business together (something which we’ve talked
about for years) it will be a scary thing because we’re going to have to
actually work rather than just joke and laugh.
Erin and Jessica seemed to have had a good time as well, which I treasure as
well because Jessica and Erin have been friends for about as long as Tony
and I have (mostly because we got to know one another as couples).

Anyway, I’m going to bed soon, I’ve got a busy week ahead culminating in a
trip to Denver to see my parents!
I’ll write more later, I promise.

Women of Walmart II

Wow.
I should write about porn more often.
I’m currently ranking in the top ten in Google for “Women of Walmart”,
“Walmart Playboy”, and various other combinations of the two for my
article a few days ago.
I’ve gotten more hits based on that (as far as referrals from Google are
concerned) than any other post to this site.
I suppose that on certain levels it’s good because people will see that I’m
disgusted, however, I don’t think that’s going to turn the tides on the
fight against online pornography.

I’ve also gotten fun referrals from MSN for my recipes.
Makes me feel like I could be contributing to the delinquency of some cooks
:).

OK, back to the weekend with the Nuzzi’s, I’ll write more later!

Jessica’s Favorite Chicken

Jessica liked it when I made this – she said it tasted like ‘Restaurant Chicken’.
This means I’m a chef now – I could work at a restaurant.
Stop laughing, that’s not nice.
Hey, quit making cracks about me working at McD*n*ld’s.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • Chicken Breasts

Marinade

  • Some Kraft Italian Dressing – not the light stuff, but the full flavored, fatty kind.
  • Some Honey

Preparation and Cooking

The Pre-grill stuff

  1. Prepare grill
  2. Throw the chicken into a container (most likely not cardboard) that will hold
liquid, preferably one that will allow you to submerge the chicken in the
    Marinade.
  3. Squeeze/pour the dressing into the bowl.
Make sure you shake it first – the bottle, not your money-maker.
  4. Squeeze in some honey.
Not too much, but in Goldilocks tradition, just the right amount.
This is a subjective thing, so I can’t tell you how much, but don’t make it more than 12% of the marinade.
  5. Let the bird sit in the sauce for at least 30 minutes or I’ll say you did it wrong.
  6. Grill the chicken.
You could use a George Foreman grill for this too, if you’re really feeling like a lighter dinner.
  7. Serve with a nice salad, because mean salads aren’t worth eating.

NOTE: We have actually marinaded the chicken for ~24 hours before and had great results – try this at home.

Balogna Blog

sung to the tune of the Old Oscar Meyer commercial

My friend Tony has a first name.
It’s F-r-a-n-k.

OK, stop singing, I think I have successfully lodged that song in your mind.
You’ll thank me in about 4 hours when its still running through your brain.
Like a nightmarish merry-go-round.

Anyway, Tony’s got a blog.
It will more than likely be filled with similar stuff as mine.
Similar in the since that he puts the fun back into Texas.
He’s coming up this weekend with his family and I’m stoked to see him.
