Things, Goings On, and Stuff I write

We’re Back

We’re back in Aurora, CO and it feels good. We are completely tired and I’m going to bed in a few minutes. I was going to try to record the Pordcast for this week but just had to stop trying since I tried recording things about 10 times and it just was horrible. I’ll give it another shot tomorrow when I’ve had a bit of sleep 🙂

It’s good to be home.

Heading Home

Well, its been an awesome 11 days in Texas. Thanks to friends, family and other foreigners (non-Texans) who made this trip successful, and entertaining. We leave tomorrow morning to go back to Denver Internation Airport. I’ll be picking up a keyboard shortly for playing the musique on and then the pordcast will have even more funky intros. I look forward to future trips to Texas and hope that when I come down again I’ll have just as much productive time as this trip – plus seeing friends. I saw more friends during this trip than I have on any previous trip down combined.

Also, thanks to the following folks for making sure I had some things to whine about:

The car rental place

For charging me an arm and a leg for insurance, the rental and being on airport property so they could tax me even more money.
Sea World
Could you be more capitalistic? Probably. They could charge for air. By not letting people bring in water you violate basic standards and probably endanger people’s health.
San Antonio
Who let the heat out? I swear that San Antonio should so buy an Air Conditioner or maybe even a swamp cooler. It’s freaking hot there.

To everyone else I came in contact: thanks 🙂

Coincidence

On September 11th 2001 I was at Alt-N for exactly a year. I don’t actually remember if I had a review scheduled that day but the terrorists threw that day out of the window for productivity. Traffic was slow that day on the highways, but not backed up – no one wanted to rush home. We were all pretty somber. Today the terrorists attacked in London. My review is scheduled for about an hour from now. I know its coincidence but it still feels a little weird to have those things align.

I’m praying for the survivors, the families of those who are lost or are dead, and the sanity of world leaders in this time of crisis, pain and suffering. The lives of those involved will be forever changed, the reconstruction of the damage will take time and of course the nation will be in the defensive mode for a while as well. Pray.

Home Cooked Meal, Please

I have officially eaten out too many times and I think I’m going to have to turn my internal organs in for a new set when I get home. I don’t want any more grease, large slabs of (tasty) meat or more iced tea or soda. When I get home I’m going to eat a salad and drink about 300 gallons of water and as many gallons of green tea to detox (both of the beverage rations have already been started). I enjoy being served food as much as the next guy but I’m starting to feel the sluggishness of malnutrition.

At the Nuzzi’s

We’re here, there and everywhere. Last night the drive down was insane. Our car was only one of three million, bazillion, kadjillion cars. We avoided death, injury and Waco water and all was well.

We arrived in Round Rock (and Austinian suburb) shortly after 11:13:23 (23:13:23 for those of you stuck on military time). More to come.

Heading to Austin

We’re going to be heading to Austin shortly so that we can hang with the Nuzzi’s again. The boat party was fun and I enjoyed hanging out with everyone. However, it is time to move on and see what sort of heat we can discover in other parts of Texas. Of course we’ll be back up North soon and ready to face more of the Dallas/Fort Worth area Wednesday-Friday.

I’ll have some pictures to post soon. For now you can check out the latest at Flickr.com.

More Mexicans Agree…

I have had yet another Mexican food meal. This stuff is great! I’m going to import Mexican Texans to Colorado and just have them set up food establishments. I think it’ll catch on, we’ll call it REAL Mexican food. I think that we’ll also sell sombreros and Churros by the dozen. I will do the Mexica hat dance and eat more refried beans than is healthy, but it will be good.

Fun for the Whole Family

Last night we went to our friends, the Black’s, house. What fun! Abby enjoyed playing with their three boys (with one on the way due the exact same day as Evy is due 🙂 ) with the fun of dumping sand on Monty. However, Monty didn’t mind getting sanded because he’s not much older than 18 months I believe.

What a great time of fellowship and fun – thanks for the hospitality.

Asking the Obvious

I believe that it was in the seminal work Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy that the author, Douglas Adams, implied that humans restate the obvious. I’d like to say that along with that we ask the obvious. Bill Engvall of course has a great comedy routine wherein he talks about ‘giving people their sign.’ This morning I ran into an inquisitive mind that asked an obvious question and it took everything within me to not just mock the question.

Why is it that the innocence of youth slowly turns into the impatience and senility of near thirtiness?
