Double Your Pleasure

Well, last night, after a gruelling day of whatever we went to dinner. We went to a restaurant called Mimi’s Cafe. Ironically there was one not too far from us in Texas that we never went to in Texas, but once we moved to Colorado we still didn’t go there. Then, we went to Texas last Summer and met our friends the Henebury’s there for lunch and really enjoyed it because they have a New Orleans flare with a diverse menu. So we go to our local branch periodically.

Well, the reason our pleasure there was doubled was this: Two (count ’em) people came up as they were leaving and told us that our girls were well behaved. Nothing makes you feel like you might possibly not be a bad, evil, incapable parent like having other parents approach you and say your kids are well behaved. And of course Evie smiled a lot, which is fun 🙂

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah

No, that’s not a Beatles reference. It is what we as parents of Evie say to her over and over again. If we say something and she smiles, then we repeat it, if she smiles again, we repeat it again. I swear she must think we’ve got the smallest vocabulary! When she gets older, she might read this and she’ll say, “Dad, what on earth did you think you were doing?” And I will reply carefully, “Trying our best?” Which won’t cut it because, “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” makes for some pretty lame rock lyrics as well as not much for a baby’s mind to grab onto. Fortunately I have a goatee for her to grab onto instead of words.

Evie: Video Footage

You can download a huge 16MB video file of Evie smiling and Jessica and I making complete fools of ourselves keeping her smiling here. I figured that since I still have yet to post some new pictures this was the way to go. It should be rather high quality (for the internet) and you should be able to view it quite large 🙂

The audio is a bit funky because our camcorder appears to be messed up for no apparent reason. It keeps me humble and from outdoing Steven Spieldberg.

UPDATE Some people have reported that the mpeg file did not work. Here it is in AVI, and here it is in a Quicktime MOV file.

Umbilicus Offus

Evie’s umbilicus fell off yesterday at some point in time (in a disgusting side note: we have no clue where it went…yet). She’s now a rather ‘normal’ looking baby. Except by ‘normal’ I mean cutest little girl in her age bracket (apologies to any other girls in this age bracket, I’m biased). I’ve got more pictures to post that I plan on posting later today.
