Abby doesn’t really know jive, but I’m reminded of the elaborate handshakes and coded language of yester-year when we put her to bed or down for a nap. The sequence of events follows closely along this outline:
- Big Hug (makes you feel good)
- A Kiss (makes you feel ‘gooder’)
- Eskimo kisses (rub noses together, I’ve sometimes heard this referred to as ‘b*tt*rfly kisses,’ but ever since the Bob Carlisle song I’ve wanted to plug my ears and gouge out my eyes when I hear or see the term.)
- Bonk heads together(I have no idea where this came from)
- Push our ears together (came from me)
- Push our elbows together (me, again)
Abby insists that these things be done before she goes to bed, funny, but true.
We are creatures of habit. The older we get, the sillier the habits become: From squeezing our ears together to speeding up for yellow lights.
Hmmn, never heard Eskimo kisses called butterfly kisses. I was under the impression that butterfly kisses were when someone bats their eyelashes against your cheek.
On another note, I hate Bob Carlisle and can identify with your pain.
