The White Christmas That Almost Was

Here in the Northern Hemisphere our Christmases have a bit of a chance to actually be white in December (see: Phil does Chritmas in Australia). We had 1.5 inches of snow last night, but this is Washington state so promptly after dropping frozen precipitation it switched to rain. Therefore the white Christmas was replaced with a slush Christmas. Which really doesn’t have the same ring to it, unless you’re a 911 operator, in which case you just get different phone calls about the same goofballs doing the different crazy things.

  1. I’d love a white Christmas. Well, perhaps just for something different. We don’t even get snow in the winter time where we live – the temperature’s lucky to drop below 5ºC at worst. Though summer is generally hotter than 40ºC. But what makes Christmas for me is having a BBQ at my parents with all the family there running around with water pistols, having a water fight or playing cricket or something. It’d be hard to do that with snow on the ground.

That said, our church’s doing a “Narnia” experience for Christmas. The rumour is that they’re getting a snow machine in for it. I’ll make sure to get some photos.
