After eating out for so much of this week last night I had a tasty chicken dinner over at Dave’s place. His lovely bride, Darlene, made a tasty meal. I got to meet and spend some time with Dave’s mom as well. All was lovely, including his little girls who are almost as cute as my own I think that home made is going to be my new ‘eating out’ in that it will be a treat since it isn’t greasy, full of fat (well, maybe it could be), and not huge portions.
Oh, and I’m heading home this evening and can’t wait to see my family!
My buddy Mike was just talking to me and as we talked he kept rubbing his nose. Nothing makes me more paranoid about having a booger hanging out of my nasal cavity like someone touching their nose. It makes me think, “Shoot, I have something that probably looks like Jabba the Hut hanging from my beak.” Which may be the truth, but then also touching my nose may reveal that I really do have a large something-or-other hanging from it thus actually finding out that I was socially goofy in a way more outward than just my behavior. It is like I’m 14 or something
My nose and nasal passages have been all sorts of funky with allergies. The plane ride had pressure inside of my head that was crazy. I haven’t acclimated to the change in elevation yet and things are ringing… and no, Becky, they are not phones that I’m hearing ringing. Speaking of which cell phones don’t ring any more. People have MIDI files, MP3 files or various other things that sound off, but I don’t hear nearly as many annoying ‘bing, bing, bing, bong, bo-o-o-ong’ sounds as I used to. I think we’ll hear them again in about 2 years when people think retro-cell sounds are cool again.
Tonight was a tough night to put Abby to bed. You see in the morning (or before the morning in my normal sleeping schedule) I will leave for Dallas/Fort Worth. Abby is quite sad that I’m leaving and has been crying upstairs for a while. It is tough to endure that crying, but it must be done. She asked me if there is a bed in Texas (upon which she might sleep, I think). Then she asked that, if I had any friends in Texas, she be taken to meet them when she gets bigger.
I love my wife, my girls, and our house in Aurora as well as church and family here. It is tough leaving them. Evie has been particularly smiley this evening which is good. I will have good ‘last memories’ from before the departure
Should I get her this for Mother’s Day?

Jessica ate Sushi tonight and liked it. She totally wrestled with the chopsticks, but made up for it in eating raw, uncooked, redundant fish. On top of that she also ate non-fish items like rice, veggies and cooked eel. Good stuff. I had some sushi, but the balance of my meal came from the plate, which balanced quite nicely on the table. Oh, and I ate Kung Pow Chicken! I asked for it to be extra hot. I think the chef thought I meant, warm, which was fine, because the flavor was actually quite nice on top of being warm. Next time I think I’ll have to send it back and complain that I wasn’t crying after the first bite. Dr. Starling, whom we went to dinner with, thought that the KPC was hot, but I think she needs to learn about hot by eating more hot stuff like habanero peppers.
OK, I really need to go to bed now.
This was going to be a long post about stuff that got way too ranty, too negative, and then just outright rude. Therefore it has been replaced with a happy picture of Evie & Abby that is out of focus – because this post was out of focus.
Wow. I feel better.
last night I met one of our new neighbors. Her name is Jen, and her husband’s name is Sean. I don’t know how he spells it Sean, Shawn, Shon, Shaughn or Schwann [that's a joke]. What is amusing for me is that two of my best friends throughout High School were named Sean & Jen, and they briefly dated. However, this is surely not them
I then proceeded to ride my unicycle (or at least practice riding my unicycle). Which was pretty funny because I’m rather stinky at it still and Jen was raking the leaves in their front yard. I hope that I didn’t scare her. You don’t meet a lot of unicyclers, so it may make her think twice about talking with us again.
Computers are always improving – well, actually, that’s not true. The technology that makes up computers continues to develop and move forward. Its either progress or greed, but either way, computers are faster now than they’ve ever been. They’re also darn hot. I think that during the Summer I’m going to turn off my computers to reduce the heat generated in my house. Wait, that won’t work for my work. However, they’re darn warm sometimes. I’m thinking we should harness this energy to cook food. Just imagine putting a potato on your CPU and being able to eat it at the end of the work day! And when your potato’s done you can serve it on one of your hard drive platters
I just got off the phone with Jessica wherein I asked her to buy something for me at Costco. She got a little put out by my request, which I didn’t know what to do with. Then she confessed that she had planned on buying that very thing for me for Father’s day. Drat. Now she’ll have to buy one of the 200 other things that apparently she has on a list of things to buy for me.
I’m a goober. Or as my sister-in-law Sha’i says, “You’re a dork.”
