More Mexicans Agree…

I have had yet another Mexican food meal. This stuff is great! I’m going to import Mexican Texans to Colorado and just have them set up food establishments. I think it’ll catch on, we’ll call it REAL Mexican food. I think that we’ll also sell sombreros and Churros by the dozen. I will do the Mexica hat dance and eat more refried beans than is healthy, but it will be good.

Fun for the Whole Family

Last night we went to our friends, the Black’s, house. What fun! Abby enjoyed playing with their three boys (with one on the way due the exact same day as Evy is due 🙂 ) with the fun of dumping sand on Monty. However, Monty didn’t mind getting sanded because he’s not much older than 18 months I believe.

What a great time of fellowship and fun – thanks for the hospitality.

Iron McChef

To the fine individual, working dutifully on the culinary aspect of the food at the McDonald’s inside DIA,
Thank you for going the extra mile for me while constructing the breakfast sandwich I ordered. I know it is difficult to work under the conditions that are given you in the tiny kitchen at the McDonald’s facilities at DIA, but I know you are thriving in the challenge. Others have failed, but you will succeed.

At first when I opened up the sandwich wrapper and saw that the food appeared cold, mashed to one side and possibly older than the fruit from which my orange juice was de-concentrated. Of course my second thought – and what I believe the truth is – was that you were working on the presentation of this breakfast sandwich. I think that if you were in charge of naming it you would call it the McDeluxe warmed omelet presented in pieces garnished with aged cheddar in a decorative paper wrapper.

I apologize for not taking a picture of this work of art since I know that original pieces of this caliber are probably more rare than people are aware of. Given that most of the food products that are part of the McDonald’s food repertoire are produced to exact specification I recognize that you may have actually been putting your job on the line by being artistic and creative. Fortunately, your work was not misunderstood and I was able to appreciate its quality.

I am in awe.

Hot Steemy Pulpy Paper Towels

I just saw a commercial on TV for Brawny paper towels. Yup, it was selling paper towels with sex. The man was a day-time soap looking fellow who was doing everything in as sensuous a manner as he could muster.

What have we come to that women, apparently viewed as desperate house wives, are drawn to paper towels thinking of how they’d like to pick up some hot steamy messes with a brawny man?

Sad.

An Easy Mistake

Abby just got up out of bed (it is bed time). She called out, “Daddy! Daddy! Did you hear the ant?” I replied in the negative. She said, “I heard the ant. I made a mistake with the ant and the airplane.” I asked if she mistook the airplane for an ant. “Yeah, I thought the airplane was an ant, Daddy.”

An easy mistake – one we could all make 🙂

Asking the Obvious

I believe that it was in the seminal work Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy that the author, Douglas Adams, implied that humans restate the obvious. I’d like to say that along with that we ask the obvious. Bill Engvall of course has a great comedy routine wherein he talks about ‘giving people their sign.’ This morning I ran into an inquisitive mind that asked an obvious question and it took everything within me to not just mock the question.

Why is it that the innocence of youth slowly turns into the impatience and senility of near thirtiness?

Booked

We are so booked this trip to Texas. I’m working, which has to be a priority, but on top of that we’re also trying to visit and see as many people as possible. I’m just hoping for a few minutes of actual down time to get rest. I don’t expect it but I’m going to be an optimist.

Also, I’m wondering how I’m going to bring everything with me that I’d like to bring – it seems that I have too many things to bring, some work related, some personal, but all seem important. I will, however, only be bringing my Bible with me and a few books to bring to some friends that I’d like to share.

Should be fun!

Holy Percussive Ingenuity Batman!

We just got back from Stomp. As I expected I was impressed. There was a lot of stuff that I remembered from the first show I saw around 6 years ago, but also a lot of fun new stuff – and, since it had been six years there was plenty of time for me to forget some of it so it could be new again. There was a lot more comedy than I recall from before so that was good. I was also good to hear our friends the Kaes laugh as well and I’m sure that Kailey and Trystan are just hungry to start their own Stomp routines.

Good stuff! Definitely worth going to see if they come to your area. Sell and organ if you have to. Organs aren’t as cool as drums anyway 😉
